Well I’ll Go To The Foot Of My Stairs…

I love a bit of sax, me….

Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes she is…think about it
Woman is the nigger of the world
Think about it…do something about it

We make her paint her face and dance
If she won’t be a slave, we say that she don’t love us
If she’s real, we say she’s trying to be a man
While putting her down, we pretend so hard that shes above us

Woman is the nigger of the world…yes she is
If you don’t believe me, take a look at the one you’re with
Woman is the slave of the slaves
Ah, yeah…you better scream about it

We make her bear and raise our children
And then we leave her flat for being a fat old mother hen
We tell her home is the only place she should be
Then we complain that she’s too unworldly to be our friend

Woman is the nigger of the world…yes she is
If you don’t believe me, take a look at the one you’re with
Woman is the slave to the slaves
Yeah…you better scream about it

We insult her every day on tv
And wonder why she has no guts or confidence
When she’s young we kill her will to be free
While telling her not to be so smart we put her down for being so dumb

Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes she is…if you don’t believe me, take a look at the one you’re with
Woman is the slave to the slaves
Yes she is…if you believe me, you better scream about it

We make her paint her face and dance
We make her paint her face and dance
We make her paint her face and dance
We make her paint her face and dance
We make her paint her face and dance
We make her paint her face and dance

“I had to find out more about myself and my attitude to women…” kinda speaks volumes, don’t you think?

    WOW!

I love that he admits he was a chauvinist, until of course he met Yoko and had his eyes opened.

That is one statement, Mr Lennon and I salute you.

And some people still don’t listen. Why are we still fighting?

‘We make her bear and raise our children.’ Patriarchal lies of course because women do not have men’s children – but women certainly are responsible for childrearing, with men taking the credit and women taking the negative criticisms whenever their child does something wrong!

Perhaps Lennon has been reading too much Aristotle!

It’s been a while since I’ve heard this song. Damn. I wish it wasn’t still so true.

Women with no guts or confidence are powerless women and thus, women who aren’t spending time changing the world.

There is a reason the government don’t ban the images that are inflicted and thrusted upon women on a daily basis.

Sounds like Mr. Lennon is engaging in a one-white-man-to-another conversation. Talking over the heads of anyone who isn’t a white man. As for his use of the word n**: it’s racist. He’s saying that there is such a person as a n** and that it’s not fair that ‘the one you’re with’ should be treated like one. Well, he did his bit to uphold/maintain such a ‘category’.

‘Well, he did his bit to uphold/maintain such a ‘category’.’

    He did? How so?

I didn’t sense that he was endorsing the word or implying some people are beneath him or his race. Is there something you know about him that I don’t?

Thanks Yoko for saying this. I had forgotten the song but not the words.
Thanks Witchy for putting it up, women need to put themselves and each other above any other causes.

Well I think this was Yoko Ono’s influence. I’m pretty sure he was a lech as much as the next Beatle.

I’ve always been a fan of John Lennon, but I didn’t know about this song. Now I’m angry all over again that he was murdered.

Lennon slept around on Ono several times. If that is a man reformed then that certainly puts the lie on the libfems…

I don’t think the meaning of the word “nigger” (sorry :( ) has changed any more than being a woman has changed in the last 20 years.

I believe it’s long past the time for both to change.
