…so it’s Wow day.
This week, the wonderful Joe at Buried Voices posted a reflection on genderized fear in which he says:
I cannot, cannot, understand how abuses towards an entire half of the human population is tolerated, and even accepted. If a person targets a specific group of people besides women, we—within the general time and place that I locate myself—consider it an appalling hate crime. However, when a man commits acts of violence or verbal abuse against women, there being many men who are violent and abusive only towards women, we think comparatively little of it.
