Well I’ll Go To The Foot Of My Stairs…

Well, here we are then…

October 4, 2006 · 67 Comments

Welcome to my new home. I’m so pleased you got here – I’d have missed you if you hadn’t made it ;)

It’s still a bit ramshackle I’m afraid – you know what it’s like when you’ve just moved and you still haven’t found the box with the corkscrew in – but I’m in the process of getting sorted so please bear with me.

I quite like it here…

OMG! What is it with you? Copying me? Do I need to switch to WordPress, as a loyal Witchy fan then?

    Hey Witchy,

You have to tell me how you managed to transfer all your posts from blogger. I didn’t know it was possible.

  • stormcloud // October 5, 2006 at 8:29 pm | Reply

    Aha! Found you!
Yes, I too did the WP defecting thingy. I like their templates much better. Speaking of templates, *not* that I have anything to do with it ;-) , you’ve picked the same template as Adhesively Challenged!

I’m still working through all the options and settings and wot not.

  • witchywoo // October 5, 2006 at 10:19 pm | Reply

Thanks for your good wishes, all :)

SW – yes, little witchy is still guarding the door at blogger. But I brought her sisters over here and, once I work out how to do it, one of them will be making an appearance.

whiztle – to transfer your posts from blogger go to ‘manage’ on your WP dashboard and then ‘import’ in the sub-menu. It talks you all through it – dead easy!

    Stormy – who’s Adhesively Challenged? I shall investigate 8)

I’m still tinkering about with all the settings, finally put my profile piccy up yesterday, it’s come out looking better than on Blogger.

The only problem with WP that I’ve found, is the inability to tinker with the CSS (unless one pays for upgrade).

That includes the ability to have preview on the comments, coz I continually forget to close tags and stuff, but perhaps I’m just old and forgetful, now what was I talking about again??

  • simplywondered // October 7, 2006 at 12:06 am | Reply

and of course the lw is still standing like a tutelary deity protecting the hearth and home at my blog; for which I am grateful. don’t suppose the clanger might get an airing on the new server?(portal – whatever it is)

Totally separate, but I wanted to post a comment at adhesively unchallenged, but it seems to want a password. any thoughts.

  • simplywondered // October 7, 2006 at 12:22 am | Reply

Totally off-thread, but I know you’ll forgive me. Have just read the latest at Biting Beaver and I hope anyone who wishes her well would want to go to her site and tell her. Sorry to hijack your site for this Withcy but nobody goes to mine and I know you’ll think it important – and of course just move this somewhere else or whatever.

Thanks for that last comment SW – it’s staying right where it is.

I take it back. I’m not going to wordpress – I can’t tinker with the side bar like I want to.

Oh and Witchy – you need to pop your links list up hon, I can’t find anything…..

I’m getting to that…. A tad snowed under at the moment though :(

Hello Witchy! Love your new home! ;)

  • stormcloud // October 8, 2006 at 10:30 am | Reply

    Witchy
WP has a bug at the moment (setting up the blogroll), only happened a few days ago (when I set up Stormy blog, no probs, when I set up a new one, big strange probs!).

    Here’s their reply:
“Hi, You found a bug! Not that finding a bug is so great – but it explains the problem. I can duplicate the problem too so we can fix it :)
    Sorry it happened!”

I was relieved, mainly because I thought at one point I was going mad! Hopefully they will fix it quickly, as it affects new bloggers, so they wouldn’t want to put them off.

  • stormcloud // October 8, 2006 at 10:35 am | Reply

    SW:
“but I wanted to post a comment at adhesively unchallenged, but it seems to want a password”

I’ll have a look at my settings on that blog. I know it is probably due to the setting in general options “users must be registered and logged in to comment”. I took that to mean like Blogger, meaning must have a WP account.

I have just taken it off now, and I’ll see how that flies. Basically, I just default to maximum troll alert, as I’m sick of them.

So, have another go at the comments SW!

  • witchywoo // October 8, 2006 at 6:11 pm | Reply

Thanks for the bug alert Stormy – I’ll bear it in mind ;)

Lovely to see so many friendly faces here already!

    Witchy:
Seems the bug has now been fixed, my blogroll looks how it should be!

(BTW, I didn’t mind that tech support were jovial in tone)

hmmm…call me picky (and as the owner of the least visual blog ever) not wilod on the purple. maybe I’m thinking of Lydia the modest christian seamstress.

stormy – still seem to be getting asked for my, login if I want to post on stormy blog on wordpress. sorry; probably major technical ineptitude here. virtual version of classic male habit of waving the remote control around and looking vaguely discomforted in hope passing woman will take remote and do whatever needs doing to save himself from thinking or even getting off ever-spreading arse.

  • simplywondered // October 10, 2006 at 10:30 pm | Reply

and forgot to ask, stormy – and can’t ask you at your place so just using my mum’s house to have friends round and annoy her – where’s the fridge, witchy? – did you delete one of your comments on the veil issue at my place – I wanted to agree with it but found it gone…didn’t even know one could do that! if you do drop back to mine (well I can’t relax with mum stomping around asking if my ‘friend’ (significant look) would like a cup of tea every two minutes – no we’re bloody snogging, right? it’s not like that) I’d love a hint on where to find the thing that lets you know who has visited etc. I don’t want it explaining (not waving the remote, promise) but would love a link to where I could get off my arse and read it for myself. Unless of course you want to do all my work for me.
No witchy, I haven’t done my assignment for college – I am talking to my friends – just talking oh god you are sooooo unfair I’m going to bed.

  • witchywoo // October 10, 2006 at 10:31 pm | Reply

Waddya mean “not wilod [sic] on the purple”?? Purple is de rigueur for witches, doncha know.

    Took me blimming ages.

Clanger set for return post halloween. Ok?

Not losing her, Sarah. She’s having a well earned rest but, never fear, she’ll be back :)

  • simplywondered // October 11, 2006 at 8:18 am | Reply

I’m not worthy (particularly with your blog featuring on one of NZ’s major radio networks – presumably one of at least errr one – just twiddle the cat’s whiskers Mitch). You know all I do is turn up with my friends from uni, put my feet on the clean furniture, demand food, steal the last of the cooking sherry and sit discussing Simone de Beauvoir with my girlfriend in my bedroom – don’t you dare clear out my stuff.
And we so aren’t discussing Simone de Beauvoir

Re the not wilod on purple – I knew I had no taste – I had forgotten I couldn’t write English. Should have read my (not for sale to a porn site) blog – readership 6 (cos nobody has asked to buy it) for details on that….
    Clanger yeah!
Thank you very much for the link.

it says it takes 15 minutes – can’t you do it for me. and can you get off the phone I’ve got to call Wazza.
    yes actually – GOT TO.

Bog off SW – she’s way too busy to mess with your blog. Go do it yourself!

And use your mobile to call Wazza.

you can tell that witch (as I am not speaking to her) that I will have alphabites but not fish fingers as i am a vegetarian now. she can do me something else.
dazza’s mum is a witch. dazza and i are getting a flat.
